The procedure in selling a house where the owner asks a real state agent to help him find a buyer is relatively similar in buying a house. The seller discuss with the agent the terms and conditions he would like to stipulate. He must be honest too in defining the exact condition of the house he wants to sell and the manner and traits of the neighborhood where the house is located. The agent on the other hand must check and do actual inspection of the house to have a good and better reference for prospective buyers. By doing this, it will help the agent to single out potential house buyer. This will hasten the selling of the house.

Real estate agents normally work in the office managed by real estate broker. But most of his workload can be done at home since there is information concerning available properties that can be easily accessed through the internet. Most of their time is spent outside the office too. Showing houses for sale to interested buyers or meeting prospective sellers can be quite tiring but definitely rewarding once the transaction is consummated. This is why agents usually work more than 40 hours a week and even work at weekends or evenings. Their time should always be available for buyers and sellers. 

In order to become a qualified real estate agent, you must have a license from the State in which you work. To have a license, you must be a high school graduate and should be at least 18 years old. If you qualify to all of these requirements, a written state examination should be taken to get a license. There are states where a real estate agent must go to a special school for a few months before he can become an agent.

A good real estate agent must show confidence and must be able to get along well with people. Always bear in mind that everyone is a potential buyer or seller.
